original 69 brake pads

Does anyone know if the true original brake pads were bare steel not plated gold?All of the original ones that I have seen are bare steel without the noise tab.anyone ?most of the replacement nos pads are plated gold. thanks John

Riveted construction too, if I'm not mistaken. I've still got my old set hanging around somewhere, I'll have to dig them out to look at finishes (too old to remember !). Defintely organic/asbestos pads -
