Electrical fuses

Did the Norwood plant use different color fuses in their fuse blocks, for different amperage? Example red tip fuses would be 10A and white tip would be 20A? Any othere colors for the 25A and the 4A?  Thanks,  sam

I believe they used the Industry standard fuses, Sam, just like light bulbs and headlights. They came in bulk from the vendor like everything else. I've never heard of special fuses for different assembly plants. John Z would know.

Fuses were color-coded starting in 1967, using a colored strip INSIDE the glass tube (reproductions have a colored band around the OUTSIDE of the glass), and were coded as follows:

4-amp: pink
10-amp: red
20-amp: no color
25-amp: white
30-amp: green

Fuses came already in the fuse block from Packard Electric, except for options that had their own fuse - those were installed at the car assembly plants.

My 02D '69Z still has five of its original color-coded fuses.

I thought NCRS had determmined that the colors started iin 68.

The colors were used right up till they went to the new fuse design 1980 ish

Oops John - never mind you are right, just checked my 67 judging manual - they are now noted in the newest revision.
