69 th350 leaks

I have a leaking trans pan. what do you have to do to change it? I am guessing support the tail end and pull mount and cross member to get access to rear pan bolts?

Moderator needs to move this to maintenance. I have changed oil without having to remove any of mentioned items. You may need a swivel socket to gain access to rear bolts. While pan is off, you should dimple the holes with a ball pean hammer to restore holes to being flat with surface. Most leaks occur from overtightening the pan. I believe spec, without looking up, is around 25 inch pounds or about what would be achieved using a 1/4 inch ratchet.

The tapping the pan rails back flat is a MUST to keep them from leaking... any sheetmetal cover should have this done... valve covers, timing chain cover, oil pan, diff cover etc etc

FWIW I had a 76 Cutlass with T-350 that I replaced the pan gasket 2-3 times only to find out side servo cover O-ring was leaking and running to the pan. lesson learned
ALWAYS diagnose the problem right the first time makes repairs less of a whipping in the long run

I replaced my pan gasket with a MR Gasket aluminum pan. It came with a thick rubber gasket and is nice and dry now. I did remove the bolts from the rear motor mount and frame cross support and slid the support rearward a few inches by tapping it with a hammer. It was not very difficult to do and worth the effort.
