68 brake rotors

can anyone tell me what is difference is between 3910881 and 3901098 rotors and which is correct for 68 Z28??

I will have to check mine, but IIRC 098 is the part number for the hub and rotor assembly, and 881 is the casting number on the inside face of the rotor.

There is a series of numbers cast on the inside of the rotors but I can't make them out due to years of grime over some surface rust..... need to give them a good clean and a soak in rust remover.
But did find in the February 1969 P&A Catalog, group 6.307, confirmation that 3901098 is the correct hub and rotor assembly part # for 67-69 Camaro with disk brakes:

Thanks for your help - the number on the inside face of my rotors are 3910881, can't see any numbers on the hub but I haven't unbolted the hub from the rotor to see if there is any numbers on the back face of the hub.
Everything I can find refers to part number 3901098, but can't seem to find anything on or about 3910881, unless that is the part# for the rotor only and 3901098 is for the complete hub and rotor assembly as per your '69 P&A Catalog indicates.
Just want to make sure if I purchase USA made aftermarket hub and rotor assemblies, they will work with 4 piston calipers with no issues, don't want to put on imported one piece replacements.
Can any one recommend who sells the best quality aftermarket USA replacements.

Casting numbers aren't the same as part numbers, so they are usually not referenced in the AIM or other manuals or catalogs.
I do recall some discussion about US-made reproductions, will have to do some digging. Think the question was raised about the cast iron quality (nodular, ductile, gray), and how you could be sure what you bought was actually US made when vendors market both imported and local, but with a significant price premium.....

I remember hearing or reading somewhere something about the quality of the cast iron, nodular, ductile, gray, etc. in regard some of the reproductions. My rotors are worn past spec. and would rather keep the car as original as possible and just replace the rotors only, but doesn't seem like anybody does the rotors only, so want to keep my 2 piece rotor and hubs and and put on the best quality reproduction 2 piece rotor and hubs that are available.

I purchased the rotors that looked the most like the original & switch the rotors to my original hubs. Others here have done the same. The cast iron rotor is the best for heat dissipation. Hal Baer (Baer Brakes) has been a personal friend of mine since the mid 70s. I had a lengthy conversation with Hal about this during our last discussion. I was asking him if he would be interested in making rotor only. Lots of money in tooling. I got mine from Jegs.....Joe

I think the torque spec of 60lbs was posted here in a previous thread....Joe

I went with complete 2 piece rotor set-up that is made in the USA. Went with the same ones as above(hbc) watch for sales around any holiday, seems I got them for a bit cheaper then that. My oe's are still in spec, but worth it to me to shelve them. I thought they were pretty spot on, shy the rotor min thickness not stamped in inches.
68 Z/28  born with: 302, drive line, etc..

Thanks, I think I'll go with the US made HBC rotors and hubs.  In LA now and will drive up to Shelby Township MI and have a look at them. Good excuse to drive across the USA.
