Hi crew, sorry to raise yet another thread on this topic, of which there are numerous already, but I'm still puzzled about the black primer.
Other posts have mentioned that the flowcoat primer was semi-gloss which is something I would have expected anyway, but I've just picked a set of original K17 11 30 XG rims and the primer on the inside, under the tyre, looks quite glossy as per below pic.
The rim on the right is one of the set of 4, the one on the left is another rim I'm restoring which I've sprayed with some full gloss black lacquer onto the cleaned bare steel.
It's pretty hard to pick any difference in the gloss.
The rear does look flatter, but mainly because of the argent overspray which is heavy in patches where it scored a direct hit through the slots and lighter elsewhere from just settling out of the air.
Being enamel, it would have stayed wet in the air for some time [hate the stuff - gets on everything!]
Thoughts/comments appreciated as always.
