Interior looks like it has some bad repro pieces - drivers seat cover and door panels look cheap to me. . There was no way to order a car with the console gauges and not get a clock so that is something to investigate.  Engine stamp pad is painted over and looks suspect.  Caution fan sticker has no business being there. Kick panel speakers are cool and the color combo is attractive.  I am sure it has many other issues if you want to spend time picking it apart.  Are you in the market or just in it for the sport?

Just based on the description, ahem, egregious description, I would say that the seller probably does not know enough about Z28's to be selling one. I will give kudos that it was left as an X77 and not X11ed like so many. Without the POP, I am not convinced that any of the D-train is "original". Rest of car has many issues.

The clock thing has me puzzled also. With no console gauges it would have a center fuel gauge if it had a tach. Also the vin stamp on the block looks a little too good to me.

The console was probably added. Those black face gauges are from a Nova.
Love the color combo.

good catch - and then the tach is added as well.  The harder you look, the less you want to keep looking. :)

I don't think you can see broach marks from that far away. And you shouldn't be able to see them that WELL through the paint, right?. And besides, they are not that consistent originally. That engine pad is a sprinkled sand dune of perfection, TOO perfect IMO. Lot's of repro as mentioned. Those door panels are junk! How can they even install something like that? Where could you even buy a panel that trashed? Isn't the Trans VIN missing some numbers? I don't know, I am learning as the years go by, but this thing scares me... Danny

You guys are seeing all the same things that I was seeing.
Just to many issues going on with this car for a "This particular X77 Z28 has 71,000 actual miles with its complete original drivetrain" and "M-21 Muncie 4-speed manual transmission (P9M12A), 3:73 12 bolt positraction rear axle (BU0J24G1 E)"  A is not a M-21 and the rear should be 0124 (maybe just legit typo's)??
and then "The 100% original interior, door panels, upholstery, dashboard, carpets, instruments and switches are in good condition" and then finally "The mostly original paint is still very nice, with some signs of wear."
A guy could go on and on!

Couple of things just aren't quite kosher. I blew the pic of the pad stamp up and turned it around - you get the suggestion there is something stamped to the left of the engine code, heavily, and filled with paint or something to try and mask it. Speaking of stamp, my X77 is an 01C, too - the "0125" date is getting mighty close to the build date of the car (my MSO is 1/28). He never mentions the casting date of the block, either, and no pic. Partial VIN on the trans doesn't look anything like mine, either. Pretty car, though, in spite of the flaws. Wish people would be careful with statements concerning authenticity -

Regards,
Steve

Carb is a replacement.    Date is after 1969.   Also liked the seller calling it an 850.
