K79 option
« on: July 31, 2011, 10:29:11 PM »
Could I ask you guys to discuss and define this option.
Most searches I do come up with A/C, TH400, or Z28 in relative fields.

Thanx

BTW, would it be worthwhile to add an RPO "code" category?
I am aware of the PDF list, but a place to discuss those...

Not much to it really. If you wanted a 42 amp alternator instead of the standard 37 amp, you could stipulate K79 on the option list. The only cars it wasn't available on were A/C cars and the Z28.

OK.

Where would one typically find this installed?
396's?
SS-350 cars?
9560 cars?
Would a Transistorized Ignition fall into that category of alternator?

No, the 69 COPO 9560 TI installed from the factory used the 37 amp alternator. The 42 amp alternator was just another option available to any car (with the exceptions noted above).

In '67, the 42-amp and 61-amp alternators were actually available on the Z28 as an option. Starting in '68, you could only get the Z with the 37-amp alternator.

To revive this post a bit what alternator would be standard on a early 67 RSSS 350 a/c car?

As was discussed in your "L48 alternator part number" thread, the 61 amp 1100750 for a car with air cond.  It was required for RPO C60

Did all 1100750's come with same fans and pulleys?
