Subframe markings?

I was digging thru some photos today of photos I'd made when disassembling my front clip, and I came across and remembered finding a yellow ink stamp on the subframe (I think this was behind one of the frame extensions to the bumper).  
The photo attached shows this marking.   Is this something that occurs on all of them?  Is this maybe part of a stamped part number?   Any comments appreciated...

What year? My 69's have them in same place. Orange is the color and a single vertical line. I remember reading about why it is there, but escapes me at the moment.

My 05C 68 also has them, LA cars? Disc brake cars?  The 08C is a L.A. drum brake car with the globby under coating so I never checked. Also, green dabs on the front hubs on the 05C.

I didn't find the yellow ink stampings but I did find the orange stripe on my '68 Norwood 01C car which I recreated during the subframe restoration.

The yellow letters on my subframe (under the bumper bracket mount location) appear to be a PN... although I cannot read them all.  I went to the Chevrolet P&A today (30A dated 1Oct1970) and found the following under section 7.003  FRAME ASSEMBLY.  

"The left hand side outer member will bear the frame identification with characters stamped ahead of the rear bumper bracker attaching slot.  The top line of this identification will provide the part number of the frame assembly, the name of the manufacturer (abbreviated, ie. Pontiac-Pon, Smith - S, Parish Pressed Steel - PPS).  The bottom line will provide the month, day, year, and shift number."

For that section, only full frame cars were listed, so I'm still looking in the P&A for the 'subframe' section to find the PN, but the notation above reflects *exactly* where these yellow numbers were stamped on my subframe - ie. left hand side, behind/under the rear most bumper bracket mounting slot.   Section 7.010 entitled  MEMBER - EXTERNSION-REINFORCEMENT-WASHER, Frame Cross, Front'  includes
    67-69 Camaro
    68-69 Chevy ................................3954642            1          $120.35       side and cross (note 2_)
         NOTE 2:  When used on 1967-68 models it will be necessary to re-work control arm bumper per instruction sheet and use 1969
          stabilizer shaft  3955782.
... Is the part number above the '69 subframe PN? (3954642)??
actually now I'm thinking that part numeral I can read is probably the 'last line'.. ie.   month, day, year, shift..   seems I can read a ...7309... which could be 7 for july, 30 for day, 9 for year  which corresponds well to my Sept production date.

Has anyone found a 'cleaner/more complete' id number on an original first gen camaro subframe??

Here is Van Nuys 04A, unrestored original paint, yellow numbers on my car were a date code 3-26-69. Notice drips and runs from dip paint on frame. Restored cars should copy this and not be smooth!:

Oaklys,  is that marking on your LH (drivers side) front subframe rail??  under where the bumper bracket mounted?

It is the drivers side and you can just see the front tire there.

I found the following on my Van Nuys Pace car (04C) when cleaning up the subframe. The orange stripe is out of frame to the right

that appears to be an April 11 '69 date stamp..  Seem right for your 04C car too.   
The subframe PN  is probably located under the bumper bracket (and probably is still in decent condition based on that stamp).  If you ever expose it, please take a photo of the PN and post it..

What does that stamp mean, other than indicating the date. I have never seen it before on a subframe.

Thanks Gary. Interesting to see that for the first time. My car had undercoating. Had I known at the time I may have taken my time to look for it before stripping the paint.
