How cool. A forum just for 6's!
I love them. Wish I could find an original car with a six.
Much more likely to be a well maintained unrestored car than if it was an 8 for sure.
I have a 61 Bubbletop with the 235, and people are surprised when I open the hood. Everyone expects a 348 or 283.
I love the 6. Runs super, and it's plenty of power for me!

Saw a 69 for sale ( auction style ) on the internet yesterday at about $ 10,000. I think ebay. Appeared very clean. Type in 69 Camaros for sale in your internet search, it'll come up first page. Too tempting so I did not look long ! Plus I got my eye on a 56 ( my first love ,55-56) that has not been on the road since 69, garage stored ,a buddy's car. 1 repaint in the 60's and needs assembled. He's getting a little warm on selling.

I also like the shoe box chevys. I have a 55 hardtop now. it took 5 years for me to talk my friend out of it. Since everything else I have is pretty much stock, the idea for the 55 is a alumium LS1 with a 6 speed, and just drive the car in primer and enjoy it..
BUT I am just accumulating parts right now, I have almost everything except the computer, and heads, and some small engine accessories.
There is a long term goal to get all the vehicles under one roof like a barn or airplane hanger, so it will still be some time before it gets put together.

I have had cars with a 6 and they worked well as a daily driver. I bought a 65 ranchero(with a 6) for $200 bucks and drove it for a couple years probably 100k miles, before I sold it for $700. My 64 C/10 had a 6 in it when I got it as well, man that motor ran forever, but when top speed came down to 45 mph, I had to pull it, it has a mean 327 now. I also have a 66 C/10 with a 6 that runs like a charm, although I do vision swapping in that 327 in the future, and building a more wicked motor for my 64.

There is a certain charm to those 6 cylinder vehicles, thats for sure.

Doesn't it seem that nowadays, all Chevy marketing can do is 'reuse' the old names..  how long since they had  'new idea'

...the more cars you buy..  the more difficult it is to have all your cars together; I'm spread between two shops now, with a 3rd one undersay.   

..The 327 ci engine was perhaps the *best* overall combination of torque/power/revvability of all Chevy's combinations...

... I didn't much care for 6-cyl, until an airman bud of mine bought a new '69 Camaro with the 250/6cyl..  I was very impressed with the way it handled and ran..

56 less than expected,  certainly not one paint and garage kept 44 years--many good points , not what I'm looking for.

Had a 6 banger with a glide in an old Malibu in high school---no show car. Ran great and really was not hard on the wallet for fuel.

There used to be a brown Nomad that ran for years at Norwalk--probably still around ,most are, that had a 327---would rev to the sky. One which sticks in my mind I would stop to watch. I got one on the stand--a must have bowtie.

I have had both V8 and 6 banger, 6 banger is much more reliable and seems to ride at bit better, but that could just be the fact that the v8 suspension was beat on a lot more. I am one of the few people that is restoring a 6 cylinder to number 1 show car condition, it is a completely front to back numbers matching convertible so I figure that I have to!
