IROC Camaros
« on: August 19, 2013, 04:51:34 AM »
Good read in latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines "Two Days at Riverside" - story of the first IROC camaros built by Penske.  I happened to see that race in person on one of my
visits to Riverside.  In the early nineties I was offered one of those cars but I passed.

Gordie Oftedahl purchased a few of these cars for his T/A rental operation in the late 70's. Roy Woods drove one of those cars for Gordie at the Westwood T/A in 80. I
drove the first ex Dick Hoffman 70 camaro to 12th in that race despite brake problems.

I remember Gary Fautch driving one at a Road America Trans Am in the late 70's and it was still in the IROC paint.

Scott Shadel drove a former IROC Camaro co-owned by Fred Braun in CenDiv Nationals and some IMSA races in the 80's...

There was a brown '74 IROC with A J Foyt's name on the side at the Monterey Historics over the weekend.

Pictures of the brown IROC taken by Robert Lodewyk at last year's Monterey Historics.
