BB Air Cleaner Lid Black or Chrome
« on: September 12, 2016, 03:33:07 PM »
I was at a show recently and a gentleman commented about my air cleaner lid. He said with my bill date 02E, the lid should be black. Was there a change over period from black to chrome? My car is a NOR L-35, T-400. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

From THIS THREAD:

67 - LOS -  04B -  Black    - curved print
67 - NOR - 05B -  Black    - curved print
68 - NOR - 01D - Chrome - curved print
68 - NOR - 03D - Chrome - curved print
68 - NOR - 04D - Chrome - curved print
68 - LOS  - 05D - Chrome - straight print
68 - NOR - 06A - Chrome - straight print
68 - NOR - 07C - Chrome - curved print
69 - NOR - 01C - Chrome - straight print

Not enough data points to make this conclusive though.

CCARGO...is that black? Sometimes due to reflections chrome can look black.

I'd say an early 02E should be black. Per reply #20 in the link posted above it looks like it was switched to chrome much later in '67.

CCARGO,

Is the air cleaner instructions under the lid curved by chance? This is another data point to add to that list.

Thanks,
Mike

I was negotiating with the original owner to buy this car about 10 years ago. It was a real nice original car ( not still in the condition shown in the vintage photo ) but nice. I questioned the black lid, ya know, being as smart as I am and knowing it all and such to be chrome. He sent me these two photos he took shortly after he purchased it. Boom, schooled me! I didn't buy it but looking back should have. Don't know about the instruction script font since I didn't bring it home. I would guess it has a chrome lid now since camaro guys have bass DNA.
