Yes... my first V8 rebuild ;-)
« on: June 26, 2013, 09:52:55 AM »
Hi.

YES... IT lookes like I did it. My first ever complete 327 V8 rebuild ;-)

I must admit I have had butterflies in the stumag for a few weeks now, and yeasterday after I had been checking everything over and over again I turned the key - and wromm wromm..

I ran it over 2000 RPM for about 20-22 minuts in different RPM.

I put the timing on 8 degrees to begin with, disconected the vacum to the distributor ( original with points )

Then turned the RPM up til 4000 and the timing was 42 degrees.

My book says timing at 4000 should be around 34-38 isnīt that right??

What should my idle RPM be?
How much should it drop when put in gear?
How much should my idle timing be?

I put in a bottle of came brake in doze in the oil - when should I change the oil ? ( the cylinder was only honed and new rings )

Thanks for your input ;-)

Regards

Hi Claus, we'll need to know the horse power, carburetor and if it a manual or standard transmission. Timing can be 2 btdc,4 btdc or tdc and idle can be 600,700 or 750.. Jim
