Could someone please decode these Muncie #'s for me.
Best I can tell it's a M21,  1969?
Coarse spline, single groove

It is an M21 and it was assembled on August 5th, 1969. however, double check that VIN (101513649). Is it actually 10L513649? If so, it was installed in a 1970 Los Angeles built Camaro.

Thanks Ed.  I will double check that vin.  It can be determined that this tranny was in a Camaro as opposed to any other model?

Yes, for 1970 the only Chevrolet car that started in the 5xxxxxx range was the Camaro. And the only Camaro the M21 was available in was the Z28, the L34 and the L78.

P0M05B would be for a 1970 model year vehicle so the vin is most likely correct.

I doubt it. For 1970 the 1 designation (the designator after the year - 0 in this case) was for Oshawa, Canada. They didn't build the Camaro in Canada, hense the reason I questioned it. More than likely it's an L (as in Los Angeles - Van Nuys).

660 cases were still being used as late as November, 1969, possibly even longer.

Thanks guys.  BTW, this tranny is being used by my friend on a dirt track here in upstate NY.  We were just curious as to its' origins.  Fun stuff!  If only the original Camaro owner knew!! :)
