Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1969 Camaro X22 cowl vin# question

I suppose when you ask that question, it makes me think further. It had the plate welded on the frame so it was a dual exhaust car, motor mounts seemed original (even though the engine is not) and the radiator was an original stock 23" which only came on the big block. Of course the plate would have been on any dual exhaust car and someone could have easily found a radiator and motor mounts. At this point I think I am going to pass on this purchase as these cars are so expensive anymore it is quite a bit of money to take a chance that it is legit. I was questioning on the poll whether the tag went with the car.

The engine and transmission are gone. The car seems to be a big block, RS car. Nothing seemed odd with the RS lights in the rear bumper, headlight covers, fenders etc. It is a non console column shift originally. Dual fuel lines were there so a 325 horse car but they had been cut off and a new line braided line ran. Car seemed to be a X22 but vin# rear end and cowl just seemed off a little.

I got the vin# from the car in the normal spot by the drivers side windshield.

Decoding/Numbers / 1969 Camaro X22 cowl vin# question
« on: July 10, 2015, 03:18:15 PM »
I am looking at a 1969 Camaro X22 car. The cowl tag shows 12B which I assume would be a December 2nd week build. The vin series starts with 572XXX which is about 2k after the 569987 ending vin# report for December. The rear end number decodes to 0102 which is January 2nd. Is it possible that this cowl tag is original to this car? From the research I have done I am questioning that this car could have sat for a couple weeks waiting for parts?
