Made no sense to me how after choosing the EO color and all the controversy surrounding the car and the level of restoration that he would let it go that cheap. My reserve would have been in the $100K range. I know Jerry and William saw the car and attested it was CS and the trim tag was probably stripe delete, but when we saw the door panel peeled back with the pink hues and Clem's story even I was convinced it was a super rare 1of 1. Maybe that does not mean super desirable but in my book it's more than $59K. Either way no reason to rehash hear. Let's see what it brings at Mecum when it gets talked up. What we know for sure is that it will not have Jerry's blessing as a 1 of 1. If it were my car I would have had him come out after the restoration started to see the pink hues under the door panels.

There is NO direct relationship between VIN and body numbers.William I just realized what you meant by order confirmation. That would make sense and would account for why some cars body numbers are not in sync with most of the cars produced during the same time frame. This car does have a host of special options that may have held up its production. Thanks
The best examples are the Gibb ZL1 Camaros. All 50 were ordered on or about December 6, 1968. The orders were assigned confirmations #222001-222049; 1 order was messed up and later re-issued. The first Gibb ZL1 was N569358 / NOR222002 built December 30, 1968. N609238 / NOR222001 is the 14th ZL1, built March 5, 1969. Gibb needed the #1 car quickly and his contacts at Chevrolet moved it up the schedule.
The first ZL1 Camaro ordered [different dealer] was N608193 / NOR211785. Despite being ordered almost two weeks prior to Gibbs cars it was built much later. Why? The body number had nothing to do with production scheduling. Chevrolet scheduled production based on a number of factors: equipment availability, dealer location, paint color. How much clout the dealer had also came into play.
There is nothing unusual about cars built within minutes of each other having body numbers thousands apart.
I was just thinking I don't have much for a '69 that you would need, maybe a couple little things. I do have an extra original brake booster hose bracket with the AAC stamping. But I think another member said he might want it. I will have to go back and check some emails to see whom it was. Can you take a close-up shot of your brake booster hose bracket? I do have an original USA-1 front plate. If you are interested I can post some pictures. It is the correct heavy steel with the greenish/brown chromate back. Very little flawing. It's a pricey sucker..Danny
