Post #38 above (ref. to #18) came in while drafting #39. Photo in #18 above I would say is the same font (though mixed sizes).

Looks like DavidK found a good lead in #19! Hope it plays out...

I know this will sound strange. There seem to be differences in how the fonts render on my modern computer, compared to the old-school physical stamp font.

I was trying to track these down a couple years ago. This photo shows a sample of what they called 'Roman' although this particular stamp (TX, you may recognize?) is much larger than the wiper stamp.  The other style was called 'Gothic', I think it was mostly used on newer cars?

At the time I was researching this, i ran into a problem. This type of stamp was being discontinued and I was unable to place an order (this was summer 2022). Had an order in progress but it was cancelled/unavailable.

I tried to revisit some of the shopping links I saved in 2022. Not yet found one that works (dead links or moved)...

Good catch on the cover. The one pictured in your #29 looks just like picture in the Legends manual. I seem to recall rebuilding pump, VERY long time ago (probably late 1970's???) ...maybe a replacement cover? (hmm... have to look into this)

Originality / Re: trunk mat
« on: May 14, 2024, 08:58:05 PM »
I believe (may be mistaken) MOST of the vendors re-sell the same supplier product, because it looks (to me) like many of them use the same stock photo? You have to 'strategically' (LOL) trim the mat depending on several variables: coupe or convertible? Spare tire placement? (several possible hook locations) and maybe also year (shock placement). The trimming is not easy because (obviously) it is moulded (that's the whole point, right?) and you can't un-cut any mistakes.

Out of the box; the mat may seem to be longer than needed? I concluded the excess material was supposed to come up the tail panel (shielding the taillight wiring), with the assumption of aligning wheel well cutouts to the wheelhouses. This turned out to be the right assumption. It now seems obvious, but at the time I did mine I could not find it explained anywhere. This may be more readily apparent on a coupe (shocks being another reference point), but convertible has additional seat support and the mat goes up the support panel.

Once you determine where the tire-hook-hole needs to be; you can radius its corners using a brass compression fitting & a hammer on a wood block.

Probably will also need to cut out for the fuel filler inlet. The mat goes under the fuel filler shield, and around the trunk latch bracketry. This can be straightforward if original appearance is not a concern (otherwise another science project).

Convertible placement is especially tricky to get proper fitment around the cocktail shakers. Does this apply to you? (this becomes a considerably lengthier discussion).

Still another spin-off discussion (if points/originality are a concern) might address sound deadener underlayment. There is a great deal of discussion elsewhere on CRG (and other sites) on this topic.

I tried to make & use templates for the fuel filler & cocktail shakers, seemed like a great idea, but didn't work as well as I hoped. The molded mat contours made this tricky in practice. My results improved when I used "live" fitting in conjunction with "planned" (i.e. template) cuts, and making adjustments on-the-fly (if hadn't already cut something that i shouldn't have).

Hope this helps?

Late to this party, been away for awhile. There was a lot of research done on this subject in the 90's(?), also briefly mentioned in the old 'Camaro Enthusiast' magazine (Jan. 1998). There were 2 different styles documented (at that time) and the author went to great lengths to track down the stampers. Don't think he participates on this forum anymore but I'll reach out to him?

Just seeing this for the first time (now nearly 3-mos old). Didn't know there was a 6-cyl discussion board... only rarely do I notice the second half of home page (arrgh).  Engine compartment looks good! The lifted 4x4 Mustang is mind-blowing! Looks like i missed a fun event. But one question...

Dinner at the Pomona Valley Mining Co!
...with fresh burgers serving hot off the grill at the In-N-Out Burger anniversary show ?? (LOL)

Must see to believe... These guys put a 6.2L LS3 Camaro motor into a Tesla and took it to SEMA...

I just noticed this yet-unanswered question from a year ago. The "Site Comments/Discussion" section is near bottom of the CRG page... Never noticed it before!

Although this is an old thread, adding the following info in case anybody else is looking... There is a lot of good information at the 1967 section on the IPC site: http://www.camaropacecars.com/
( alternate URL:  https://www.camaroipc.com/ )

I'll second this motion... good idea! There's an 'Events' section at YENKO, for one example...?

General Discussion / Re: Paint Finish on Dash
« on: October 15, 2023, 07:21:08 PM »
May I suggest, proceed with caution using the suede additive. We had a lot of difficulty doing my dash top (this was in 2013 using now-discontinued PPG lacquer formulae). The first batch of paint, mixed per the 'cookbook recipe', sprayed up way too rough. I described it then, as approximating the texture of around 120-grit sandpaper. The original cars we were comparing to*, had a texture more like 600-800-grit sandpaper. We tried, unsuccessfully, several iterations of tweaking the mix, and different application techniques. My painter (30+ years exp) eventually got fed-up with the trial & error, and did it his own way when I wasn't around... It came out GREAT! (like 'judges liked it' great!)

*Our benchmark textures were noted from 1967 LOS cars. I don't know if '67-'68 and/or LOS/NOR may differ (others may know?).

It's possible our problems might have been due to expired product? Maybe the suede gets old sitting on the paint shop shelf (along with the lacquer base) for decades?? I'm not a paint expert & can't say. I just know we sprayed-up at least 4 rounds of trial & error before my painter threw the instructions out the window.

Hope this helps...?

General Discussion / Re: IN N OUT 75th

Charley- Come out! Did you take your car to Morgantown? Some said someone trailers from Phoenix.
Yes, i was in building A near the entrance. Any mention of 'trailer from PHX' would have meant me. I included some 'post-mortem' experiences to a recent discussion here (CRG) on shipping & transport. Also a couple photos to the discussion you started for 2023 Nationals.

If I decide to attend, probably be just me (not showing car) to just enjoy the show & concert (& burgers). Long round trip for 1-day event. If showing, probably wouldn't get more than 50 feet away from car (LOL).

See PM (David), for sidebar question...
