General Discussion / Re: sold my 68Z back to the original owner

No, the 57 was sold to someone in Kershaw, S.C. Years later I did have someone ask me what size motor was in the 57. He said it was cutting butt and the guy was saying it was a 327 cu. in. The Z legend continued.
Ken attempted to find the motor but the trail run out. He did a great job building a replacement Z motor. The car is almost as it was in 68. Great work by Ken.

My Z-28 story. Yes it's back running the back streets of Elgin, SC. In 1968 my wife Barbara told me not to buy the car. I bought it off the show room floor the next day. Nothing could outrun it in 68/69, The 290 hp @ 3200 RPM motor was unbeatable. No one knew I was pulling 425 hp @ 7000 RPM. As my family increased I had to sell the car. Minus the 302 motor of course. I installed the 302 in a 2dr 57 Chevy I had just bought. Another legend began. When I sold the 57 the buyer thought I had removed the 302. I stopped the car, put in 1st pulled 7000 RPM in 1st, 2nd & 3rd looked over at him and said was it changed. He responded you will never drive this car again. Ken contacted me years later saying that he had purchased car less the engine, wanting to know if it was a real Z and if I had the motor. A friendship developed, not knowing after 40 years Ken would offer me the restored car back at a price I could afford. My wife Barbara said you have to buy it. Second marrage different Barbara. My oldest son (42 years old) has told me it's his after I die. He lives in Elgin also, so it may be in this area for a long time. Thanks Ken for making it happen.
