Restoration / Re: gasket between the carburettor and the aircleaner
« on: July 03, 2019, 10:26:37 PM »
Often I find it is either missing or sometimes heat-welded to the bottom flange of the air cleaner housing, so you may it is missing but its not.
But as stated available over the counter. Cheap too.

Maintenance / Re: no fuel to carburettor

Yeah I would prime the carb with fuel, then if she fires and then stalls you might have a fuel pump issue or clogged fuel filter. And not to state the obvious but there is gas in the tank right? Been there done that before. :)

Garage Talk / Re: A Most Amazing Thing...

I LOVE these reunion stories. It seems there is always a series of chance meetings that pull a vehicle and old owners full circle and happily back together. Never know.

General Discussion / Re: AV Gas Warning!

Glad to see and hear you are okay. Looks like you can save her, little spit, elbow grease and some coin and she will be as good as new. But in all seriousness you are mending and that's what is important, and thanks for the warning. I have from time to time used aviation fuel in other projects. Never thought about the lack of stink.

You might also disconnect the wiring and soak it over night in Evaporust. It has done some amazing things with no damage to paint and finishes in my experience.

Well its a 69 body, and assume real cowl induction so maybe a pre-release December 1968 photo. Can't blow it up enough without distortion to see the side running engine displacement let alone the fender emblem.

General Discussion / Re: team camaro Help
« on: November 19, 2017, 01:26:59 PM »
Over a year ago now we reset every password on the entire AutoGuide system and sent email notifications to the emails on file for all accounts. What we have found that many Team Camaro, Team Chevelle, Team Nova members had changed their email accounts and providers over the years but never updated their accounts to reflect those changes, and therefore could not use the temp password to login and set a strong password.

Really not a big deal to reconnect your account. Send me a PM here with your TC screen name, birth date or old email used and your current email account. I will confirm your account details change the email on file for that account, send a password to it and done.

General Discussion / Re: 1967 Tach original vs reproduction
« on: August 10, 2017, 05:57:47 PM »
John - I think IMHO cosmetically all the reproduction Tachometers (CHQ & OER) are very good facsimiles of the original AC/Delco. I have several 69's and the colors are good matches, the finishes are best possible. The obvious difference is the embossing of the rear shell with the CRG or OER brand-mark. AC/Delcos were unmarked on the rear, often just rubber stamped with a date code.

Mechanically I have not seen any difference on my 69 with vs. the AC version. I know some folks claim they HEI worked driving a reproduction tachometer with no conversion or filter, but I have no experience with that.

Soaking in evaporust will remove the rust... THEN you can clean and clear coat...  :)  satin...

X2 on the Evaporust. Love that stuff.

General Discussion / Re: Convertible Boot
« on: August 10, 2017, 04:26:57 PM »
Camaro Central has nice American made ones, great color match and tough stitching, Distinctive Industries makes a beautiful one, in fact the one I like the best for reproduction boots. PUI also makes them, as does TMI, in original and mod styles.

You can also have a local upholster make a custom one not using the factory style clips. There is a thread over at Team Camaro where someone had one made that uses no clips or alterations to the pinch-weld molding. I have also seen ones where marine style canvas snaps were mounted on the molding to replace the factory clips.

Like a lot of people - I only use my factory one for photos, and the reproduction for when in parade mode or someone is sitting on the boot. The Vaseline is a good tip. I don't have my pinch-weld molding on at the moment so clips are mute for me.

Yeah I agree the font looks wrong on the center mounted fuel gauge.

General Discussion / Re: tachometer wiring 67
« on: May 23, 2017, 03:37:56 PM »
1967 there was only one printed circuit gauges included.
1968 there was one printed circuit board for regular and one for tic-toc-tach installations.
The harness went through the bulkhead connector and came out as a brown wire up by the coil.
You can extend that to your ignition box and connect it to the legacy tachometer port since old tachometers can only work with GM HEI or need to on a legacy port and or use a tachometer filter designed for old analogue tachometers.
