General Discussion / Re: 215 70 15 Black Wall Radial Tires

If you are looking for something different, look at the Goodyear Steelgard or Polysteel Radial.  Size is GR70-15 which is equal to a 225/70/15.  Go to www.kelseytire.com  to see that they look like as a vintage RWL look.

I have spoke with Kelsey and he is proud of the fact that he is putting out the most accurate reproduction available.  He is not planning on building a tire that was not built.

If anyone has questions about the Goodyear reproductions, feel free to give me a call.  My cell is 816-654-3400.

Originality / Re: Original tires

In the tire world of the 1960's and 70's, each maker had their own coding.  I only have the coding for the Goodyear tires.

With the discussion of the Polyglas being on Camaro/Chevelle in 1969,  we have had several cars from around the April 69 time frame pop up.  There are varying theories to this.  Polyglas were available to other car makes.  In fact, Chevy was the last to keep with the Speedway Wide Tread.  The Corvette maintained the Speedway until the radials came out in 1973.  It may have been a mandate from Goodyear, production stoppage of the Speedway and substitution of Polyglas.  Unfortunately, paperwork from Goodyear and Chevy has not materialized.

Feel free to contact me with questions-- 816-654-3400

I agree.  A lot of people do not realize this fact.  I am bringing this to the top.  The polyglas on my '69 Hurst/ Olds are supposed to be at 26 #'s.  That tire would look down if it was a 70 series radial!!!
