KGR,

Do you have the car this engine came from?

Larry has not posted anything since March of 2017.

You could try a pm or an email to him.

I sold the engine last year at the Charlotte Auto Fair to a man from South Carolina. Sorry.

I am going to be attending the Auto Fair again this year. Have been attending and swapping there for the last 30 years. This year I'm bringing my spare 69 Z engine to sell. Block, crank, rods, pistons, harmonic balancer, oil pan, windage tray, timing cover, crank gear, intake, crankshaft pulley, and valve covers. Package deal. If anyone is interested my swap space is J006 in the Orange field.

Thanks,

Larry

I looked at the Piqua Call newspaper archives yesterday and found advertisements for the Crumback-Rogers dealership although all the ads were for used cars. I looked at 68, 69, & 70 newspapers. It appears that Crumback was involved in many dealerships in the area.

On a different note, I did like the price of cars quoted in the ads!! Where is my time machine?

Recently ordered the shipping info from NCRS regarding my 69 Z-8 and received it last week. The dealer name was Crumback-Rogers Inc located in Piqua, OH. Anyone one in the Dayton-Piqua remember this dealership? I did an internet search and came up empty.

Thanks,

Larry

General Discussion / Re: custom striped Z I saw this weekend

I would leave it like it is! Very cool. I had my red GTX there up toward the food. Nice show but left about 3 when we saw showers moving in. Got to a mile of my buddies in Hilliard and started to shower.
Anymore shows you might get to? I was in Powell a week ago. Might try the zoo which I thinks October

Bill,

I usually attend the Car Show at the zoo, which is in early October. Don't know yet if I will take the Z. I also left about 2 o'clock to go to another car show & Pig Roast in Lithopolis. Ended up driving the new 2013 RS Camaro(Black w/ white stripes, of course) because it had started to rain.

You must have been at the Clintonville Car Show held at the Park Of Roses. The Camaro is mine. I have owned it since November 1983. It is a factory black car with dark blue interior. True numbers matching 69 Z-28. And yes, it has mostly original paint on it. The design in the stripes was done back in the 70's. It is called endless lines. I just recently got it back on the road after pulling the engine & trans last year to fix a rear main seal leak and do a little clean up under the hood. In the process, I documented every part under the hood and all date codes.

Most everyone who looks at it likes the stripes and tells me to not do away with them.

Thanks for checking out my Z!!

Originality / Re: June 69 Z28 Tachs
« on: May 28, 2014, 12:24:46 PM »
I don't have any way of determining if my 06A came from the factory this way but it had a 5500 redline with 7000 rpm limit tach when I bought the car over 30 years ago. Last year I changed it out for a 6x8 reproduction. Also last year I pulled the engine & trans to fix a rear main seal leak and to do some cleanup under the hood and documented every part & part number and found most everything to be the correct  part number and date code. So my car could very well have left the factory with an incorrect tach. No way of knowing for sure.

My car is black. There are a couple of pictures of it on the first page of this thread.

I have been out of town since last Thursday so I'm catching up on here. Went to the Charlotte Autofair. Been attending for the past 26 years.

I think my 69 Z/28 in two numbers behind yours! :)

                NOR344839
711 INT     79  B   PNT
06A Build    X33D80

Cowl Tag Attached

VIN # 124379N659959

Our body numbers are two numbers apart but our VIN #'s are 5,925 #'s apart. Interesting.

Pic is likely over 400 kb, the system won't accept it. Bob is 100% correct - you couldn't have posted a better picture to verify the crank. The Z shaft is the only one produced with that kind of identifying notch. Nice flywheel, though - I wish mine was that pristine.

Regards,
Steve

Picture is 42.1kb, I have resized it several times. Going to try and post it again with this reply.

Looks like the can be attached now. Same pic that I tried to post last week, same size too.

As for the tach, not saying it was original to the car, just that it was in the car when I bought it.

Thanks,

Larry

Larry, did you check the engine when you had it out to verify it has a 302 crankshaft in it?

Yes, I did that in 1984 when my brother and I put a rear main seal in it then. See attached picture.

By salvaged, I meant that it had been junked or dismantled or parted out.

I have a spare DZ 302 Engine that is stamped V0519DZ, VIN # 651115, Cast Date is D 30 9, Casting 3970010. I am relatively sure this car was salvaged in Ohio sometime in the 80-90's timeframe but if you happen to have the Z that it belongs please contact me. This is a spare engine that I bought about 15-20 years ago because I wasn't sure my car had it's original engine. Fortunately I have recently found the VIN # on my block after pulling it from the car for some detailing and to fix a rear main seal leak. The above block was cast one day before my block but the VIN#'s are 2919 #'s apart.

Thanks,

Larry

Yes, the interior is original with the exception of the dash pad. I replaced it a couple of years ago due to the original separating around the edges and curling up. Last fall I added a repro clock to the dash and some new chrome trim to the pedals. I got the original clock with the car but it had a very small piece broken off and I couldn't find anyone who though they could repair it. I also replaced the tach with a repro with the 8K limit. The tach that was in car when I bought it was a 7K limit with the redline starting at 5500. May have been the original from the factory, I don't. The repro tach was an OER brand that in my opinion was poor quality. The tach mounting studs were not "clocked" properly and it wouldn't fit in the dash properly. I ended up modifing the mounting holes slightly to get to get it set correctly. Poor quality control.
