I too have my "born with"  keys and the dealer key chain. Very cool to have. Side note, I have one Rochchester Products key and one Briggs....

MY 68Z has the original chrome sticker mounted in the same area as yours.

My car has a B&S for the ignition key and a Rochchester for the trunk.  Have found some identical replacement B&S blanks but haven't found any blanks for the Rochchester.

  I bought a set of unused original 1968 plates on eBay and had them registered as classic plates.

Correction.....I had them registered as ANTIQUE plates.  You can register them either way but I chose the Antique method.

Looks like TX has a state law against making TX plates - so they try to sell you something else.  Surprised most states allow it.

You don't have to purchase the Classic Plates they sell.  I bought a set of unused original 1968 plates on eBay and had them registered as classic plates. I showed the plates to the clerks and they couldn't believe they were in such good shape.  They were also amazed there were still original unused plates for sale.  Supposedly they should have been destroyed in the next year (1969).

The Trim tag body number was assigned when the body was built in the Fisher Body side of the plant and the VIN was assigned when the body was delivered to the Chevrolet side of the plant and released for final assembly.  So the two numbers never matched.  The problem that will arise with the tags pertains to the dates on the tags.

I would think that the DOT spec flasher would be a replacement.  The SAE specs should have been in effect in 1967. I don't believe the DOT specs came about until later.

When cutting the head for the seat, there is a possibility of cutting into the water jacket.  So, as previously stated, unless you are loading the engine really hard there isn't a need for the hardened seats.

Original crossmembers have one small hole drilled on the front edge of the crossmember and two small holes drilled on the back edge of the crossmember.  These small holes are used to mount the original Muncie shifter mounting bracket to the crossmember.....thus they will be on the drivers side of the crossmember.

As to the problem with the shifter hitting the passenger side of the console, I had the same problem with the Hurst on my car and if you will use the search feature on this forum you will discover that there are others that have or had the same problem.

Hi Kurt....Yup, you're right.  Did a little more checking on that thread and discovered that a search request, for any information on that thread, will not return a result.  So that tells me that Google has a problem with that thread.....possibly they have a block on it for some reason.  I would suggest that you contact them.
