Restoration / Clear Coats/Rust Prevention?

I was wondering if anybody has had any luck with clear coats.  I was looking to spray the original gold cad. plating for the brake booster and master cylinder cover as well as the black oxide bolts for rust protection.  I have been looking at products from OEM,VHT and Por15.
I'm trying to keep everything looking stock but with the added protection from rust.

Actually my car is an automatic with 77000 on the odometer.

Originality / Original Parts Colours/Book?

Hello,
  I was looking for a book or manual for the original paint colours for my 69 Camaro.
More specific, various colours used for drive train parts and chassis colours.
There are number books available from the major parts suppliers, but I was looking for one that would cover most or all the colours.
Excellent site and advice from the people who keep this site posted and up to date,

I have the same car with the build date 09A, and carb. number 7029215 .
I assume that this is the factory carb. as everything else is stock on the car.
Am I incorrect thinking this?
