Originality / Re: ‘67 10 Bolt Posi Diff Lube Tag

My old 67 had the red tag on the fill plug

So even though it seems settled, is your 67 a 10 bolt or 12 bolt?

Buy a reproduction bell crank (#3 in AIM) and cut off the arm/lever which attaches to the reverse rod (#6 in AIM) and weld it to the side closest to the frame. Basically reweld the arm outboard away from the header.
And I also run power steering.

Anyone have a factory 10 Bolt Posi in their ‘67? If so did it come with the stainless steel “…LIMTED SLIP DIFF. LUBE…” tag on one of the cover bolts or the red plastic “…POSI DIFF. LUBE” tag on the fill plug?
I had a 67 Firebird that came with a 3.55 Posi 10 Bolt back in 1982 and it had the SS tag attached to one of the cover bolts.

Originality / Re: Rally Rim, ‘67 All Black
« on: April 28, 2021, 11:29:07 PM »
My spare rim was all black.  Thought it was a replacement but, date codes match up.  03B Pace car,  K19 3 YJ,  No signs of ever havin the factory silver.
Interesting, I think I’ll just leave it be for now, plan was to use it as a spare.
This is for my “Base” ‘67 L30/M20/J52 Malibu, thanks Bill.

...However, that being said, we do have a couple of examples of body painted rally wheels (see attached). And while there's no Chevrolet documentation showing this as an option, it's "possible". OR, it may have been done at the dealer or even a prior owner. No way to tell without docs.

A DA wheel would not be used as a spare for a car with J52/DG wheels.  All five would be DG code.  The DA wheel cannot clear the front calipers.  As the CRG Chassis/Wheels section indicates, only cars with a full wheel cover would have black painted wheels.

Actually the DA was used on “Base” cars and such would require 5 DA’s. This includes “Base” Camaros, Chevelles and all Chevy II’s with J52.

You would think anything’s possible after 54 years. Just asking if anyone has ever seen one not painted silver from the factory?
If the car was ordered with front disc brakes but buyer wanted a different type of wheel cover or was it mandatory to have the Rally trim ring & center cap?
I realize only Rally wheels fit on the front with ‘67 J52.

Hi Ed,

Pretty sure they didn’t date code the DA wheels.
Has DA stamped by valve stem hole, GM between 2 of the lug holes and 14x5 JJ on the inner rim which is normally be covered by the tire.
These came on ‘67 J52 equipped non-SS Chevelles, non-SS Camaros, & Chevy IIs.

I recently picked up a ‘67 DA Rally Rim in what appears to be unmolested original black lacquer.
Has anyone ever seen a factory rally rim without the front painted silver?
Could it have been a factory spare for a ‘67 front disc brake car?

“...I have 20 or so 9204s and 3 or 4 8515s hidden somewhere around the shop.”

Jeff, would you happen to have a 9820 booster?
