Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 4 drum power booster tag and 2gv carb spring

I have power drums on my 66 GTO and my 64 corvette. Not as good as disc but they work well for my driving. Had them on my 69 Camaro convertible and they did not seem to work as well. Maybe just not adjusted right.

The GM list notes wide ratio 4 speed 2.52 first gear. Wonder what the rear gear ratio is ? Most Z,s are close ratio with 3.73 gears standard.

Guys I actually removed the valve stems and there is a 9 or part of one next to the valve stem hole. The rubber valve stems had it mostly covered so my wheels are actually 9-12 of 1968. My car is 12A so the wheels almost 3 months prior to the car. Kind of close for a set I took of another car I had. GM must have either punched the holes after dating or gang stamped across them. A couple of the wheels part of the 9 is in the hole.

Looking at the CRG report, the 12 could be the day not the month but I did not see a number before the 12.

You guys got my curiosity up, I went and looked at the XT wheels and they are stamped K18 12 near the valve stem. I take it that means December 1968. If so my L78 is 12A car. All 4 are the same, painted black. I might should hang on to these. My JM papers say the car would have had rally’s or XT,s.

They are in my storage location I will check the dates whenever I can go by there. They were on a non SS 69 convertible I used to have and I never even looked at them until recently when I found out they would be correct for my l78 car.

I have a set of XT 14x7 steels wheels not original to my 69 SS. Would they have been the body color or black?

I tryed for a 69Z complete except the motor sitting under some pine trees for years checking in to hear (i am going to fix it up one day). Rust got it and then a tree on it later. Went by later and it and several other cars were gone. Probably all crushed.

My thoughts are rust and body damage, a 69 convertable with legal tags and title has considerable value but 20k worth of body work would be my big factor. I know where one is about the same shape near me left in an estate but they seem to think they have the holy grail of camaros.

Started 12B or second week of December 1968 Norwood cars. LA cars never got them.

At least they made it easy listing the VIN and the trim tag date in the ad. Seems like a large operation like that would red flag something that shows one of the tags does not go with the car.

the valve covers might be correct, installed on the wrong sides, pcv should be drivers side breather on the pass side.
