Thanks for the tips. I will probably go with the silicon after hearing all of the postive remarks. It doesn't look like silicon is a perfect solution, but I guess it is the best there is for classic cars for now.

Maybe it was the earlier formulations that was used. My system will be completely new, so I wouldn't have to worry about the sludge problem.

Do either of these hold up? It seems almost impossible many times to not get a little bit of brake fluid on the outside of the master cylinder. I've been told not to use silicon brake fluid by several people I know that are very solid mechanics.

What is the best method to keep the master cylinder looking good? I have heard that even powder coating doesn't hold up well. What methods has everyone used and what seems to be holding up well over an extended period of years?

Perfectly understandable. I didn't realize it was like that, but since the splash shield was removed when I received the intake originally, I can see why the holes would have been oversized. It isn't a big issue, I was just curious. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

When I got my intake back from you Jerry, I was disappointed to see it had regular old screws holding the splash shield on...I was expecting rivets...is that something you have just started doing recently? I had mine restored by you a few years ago and I still don't have it on my car yet.

The front was undercoated too, but some say there is no sign of it on their cars. Others like me notice there is undercoating on the front, but it is no where near as liberally applied as it was in the rear.

There is a thin layer of engine grime on the aluminum part, but the hood is pretty clean.

The left and right door glass being the same (and one being etched on the outside) makes sense if they put the bend in the glass after they are produced. I have no idea how the glass is manufactured though. JohnZ...are you sure both of your door glass etchings are on the inside? I can post pics of mine if you want to see it. It is entirely possible the glass was manufactured both ways I suppose.

One of my original door glasses was etched on the outside...I can't remember which one, but I thought that was very odd. The date code on it appeared correct for my 04C car...and I know for a fact it had never been replaced in the 20+ years I have owned it. All other glass was etched from the inside.
