Originality / ZE radiator tag for 69 Camaro L/78 W/THM400

Hi all !

I'm looking for an original ZE tag for my 69 Camaro.  This was for a 3-core radiator
with straight neck for automatic transmission applications on L/78 cars.

I have checked several well known reproduction houses but none make this tag :o

One such reprduction house has offered to make the tag, but they need an original
tag to use for comparison/analysis.  I'm in a quandry.

Does any member here have this tag that they either want to sell or loan for the
reproduction process?  The latter is a tough one - I know.

I had a friend growing up that had a '67 RS 250ci with 3 speed manual trans.

He eventually sold the car to a kid and it all of a sudden morphed into an SS Camaro. :o

No the ones in the beginning of the thread apply to all 69 Camaro BB's L34 L35 L78 and L72.

Yours most likely is the replacement style with the Interlocking tabs so the engine will not come off the mount when the rubber deteriorates.  The originals broke because the L braket with the long bolt and spacer were not introduced until later in production.

 

I had not heard this before.  Anyone know if this is accurate and more importantly when exactly "later in production" came to be for the '69 BB Camaros?

Got a question for those of you who know......

Can anyone give me the general breakdown on '69 Camaro steering linkage?  There were power steering and manual steering equipped cars. 
I assume these both used the same steering linkage.  But what are the differences between standard & fast ratio steering and how did that
effect the pitman arm, idler arm, center link, etc.. 

Was the Z/28 steering linkage different than the big block cars?  What about the COPO cars?  What about standard Camaro's?  ???

That person was ME! If the RS didnt use them,I will put them back on epay. I am starting to think that LA built cars might have not used them? The car is a 11d LA built RS.   anymore info on this subject?   Thanks John

Good thing these weren't correct for my non-RS car or you would have bid a lot higher.  I had them bookmarked for a lot more than you paid.   ;D

Originality / Need clarification on original ZL/2 firewall relay

I have a fast question that I'm sure can be answered by those of you with ZL/2 equipped cars.

I was of the opinion that the original relay ( mounted on the firewall near the distributor ) is
different from the service relays in that the three prongs are arranged differently.  Is this true?

If so, what constitutes the original prong configuration vs. the service prong configuration?

Anyone have an image they can post for verification?

General Discussion / Yet again another big block motor mount question

Big block motor mounts seem to be getting all the attention these days, so I thought I would chime in with a question. ::)

I have a pair of motor mounts ( the later interlocking type ) that came out of a big block 1969 Caprice.  I removed these myself,
so I know they are correct for that application.  To the best of anyones knowledge, are these motor mounts the same as Camaro,
Nova, and Chevelle for the same year? 

I have been reading a few posts regarding the different motor mounts vs. different year frame mounts and I'm just trying to get
some things straight in my own head about all of this.  Any input would be much appreciated.

To the best of your recollection, has anyone ever documented that process
with pictures taken during the engine painting process?  Did any of these masks
make it out of Tonawanda and into someones collection?  I'd love to see one...... ;D

I have images of a side-by-side-by-side of the three cross members.  Unfortunately, that computer is down right now.

I do have the BB Camaro and Firebird cross members here so I can give you images of both.

Did you ever see the engine painting process using the reported vac-forms that masked the aluminum intakes from paint? 
This topic has long been talked about over on the NCRS.org forum and is one of those research topics I am quite interested in.
