1969 - Orphans / Re: 1969 documentation list - updated 1/31/2020

Kurt,

Recently I sent you a reply to this post saying that I was now the owner of 1969 Camaro VIN# 124379N638242.  That is not the case.  I bought this car from a dealer in North Dakota but never received the car and my money was returned.  There were "problems" with the transaction.  I am notifying you in case you keep owner names along with the car VIN.  There is such a car with this VIN#.  As of this post, the car is in a dealership by the name RIDES AUTO SALES in Bismarck ND.

Best,
Vincent

Decoding/Numbers / How to tell what engine came in the car originally
« on: July 29, 2020, 01:21:29 PM »
Hi there.  Is there a way to determine what engine came in the car?  The original engine is not in my car but I am documenting it and would like to know for future reference.  I decoded the cowl tag from information I found on this web site but I can't seem to find anything about that.

Thanks for your replies.
Vinny

Thanks for your replies.  I also researched the cowl tag from this site's wealth of information and found the color combination and other codes.  I have to admit, I am a little upset that the car was not originally a SS but at this point, just about the only things on the car that are stock are the body and most of the interior.  It's been totally redone and has an LS Corvette engine with aluminum camm'ed heads, factory A/C added, Tremec 6 speed manual, 12 bolt 411 rear, Flor Masters, traction bars.  It's a beast and it rumbles the floor.  So, I'm never gonna say its a show car, never gonna get $180,000 for it but I'm sure gonna enjoy driving it.  This is a great board and I will be checking back for more info and also to help out as I find things.  I am now a member of the Camaro club. On that note, are there any Camaro clubs you would recommend joining?  Also, how can I tell what engine originally came with that car?  There doesn't seem to be that information on the cowl tag; maybe someplace else?

All the best,
Vinny

Is there any place on the web where I can find the original records from GM for what my car came configured with?  I just bought 124379N638242, a 1969 Camaro SS.  It's now a Pro Tour car but I would like to research its history.  Where should I start?

Thanks
Vinny

Hi, I just your article.  I own 124379N638242.  I just bought it.  If you're keeping information on these and want some from me, please respond to this message.  The car is in New Jersey now.  I don't know where it came from originally.  I read your post about not asking for paperwork.  I get it.  I am trying to research this car so if anyone on this post knows some web sites that can help me, please reply back.

Thanks
Vinny
