Decoding/Numbers / Re: JL8 rear stamp
« on: February 27, 2019, 04:43:25 AM »
Hey Danzo, someone mentioned you were recently considering a Z with a QX 01 27 G axle. I'm looking at a car with the same axle stamping. A Blue Z with a - - color code on the trim tag. Same car? If so, did you pass it up and why? Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Registry for the JL8 Cars?

I am looking to make a similar purchase as described in this thread by clm69z28.  The car I'm looking at also has a QX 01 27 G axle code and is a 03D on the trim tag. Did anyone ever verify if the car in this thread with the QX code axle was a true JL8?  Any help with determining if the axle was a factory JL8 or a service HD axle would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing in writing stating the original rear end. Web listing says 3.73 posi.  I spoke with the seller's agent today on the phone and he sent me several detailed photos at my request, specifically the rear end. Attached is the rear end photo he sent me. Clearly BL 1110G2

Decoding/Numbers / 3970010 with V0107DZ stamp
« on: February 19, 2019, 03:44:37 AM »
I am guessing a fake. Can an expert please confirm?  Block Casting 3970010 casting date appears to read F48 (could be F40 or F49).  Pad stamp is painted but is clear V0107DZ. Partial VIN on pad is 19N607332, but characters do not align. X33 on tag. Full VIN is 124379N607332.

Decoding/Numbers / 69 Z28 with BL 3.07 non-posi axle

Hello, can some one shed some light on this? Researching a candidate for purchase. The axle is stamped BL 1110G2. Casting 3894860.  According to this site, a 3.07 - 12 bolt Non-posi, on a supposedly matching number Z. Is 3.07 ratio even possible on a Z? Is 12 bolt the only requirement?  VIN 124379N585908.

Wow...thanks for saving a "NEWBIE"...  Although I will give myself credit for catching the misaligned font on thw DZ stamped by the 3rd grader. I appreciate all you who chimed in and to "william" who directed me to the previous post on this car. Much obliged!

Here is more of the car. The car's VIN matches VIN stamp on block and tranny. Please help me or show me anything that doesnt look right. I would very much appreciate it. What did you mean by this "is neither a Sept 68 nor Sept 69 style DZ block stamping"?

Thanks for the reply. What other problems does the X33 point to? I thought X33 was a Z28 and RS could not be X77?

Decoding/Numbers / Fake or real 69 DZ pad stamp

Hey, I'm looking at a car to purchase and wanting opinions on the authenticity of the DZ pad stamp. The VIN stamp on the block matches the VIN on the transmission which matches the car VIN.  Car is an X33 and is claimed to be a matching # RS Z28. All Cowl tag numbers check out. But I am curious about the alignment irregularity on the DZ pad stamp. Any help is appreciated.
