https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-chevrolet-camaro-255/
Chassis number shows 123379 L6. Ad says it was originally an inline 6. Trim tag shows 124379 with interesting rivets.

General Discussion / Re: How did you all get more power out your 327
« on: June 12, 2023, 11:19:35 PM »
I have the original 327/300 in my 67 Corvette.  Had it rebuilt at LRB Performance in Franklin, NJ with the hopes of getting around 400 HP.  Bored .30 over, Hedmann headers, AED performance Holley Carb, Cam Motion hydraulic roller cam, Chevy LT1 aluminum manifold, and AFR aluminum heads.  Engine dyno'ed at 413 HP.

Several months ago, I sold a Porsche 911 GT3 on Bring A Trailer for a substantial amount of money.  The buyer elected to use Bring A Trailer's ship option, which I discovered, is a broker.  The guy shows up with a beat up dually pickup towing an old, enclosed 2 car trailer.  The DOT number was hand written in crayon on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper, stuffed in a sheet protector, and taped to the window of the pickup. The car was going from NJ to Texas.  I started to panic because I thought there was no way this guy could be legit.  I even called the new owner, and told him I was concerned.  The driver starts crawling all over the car taking pics, and I started taking pictures of him and his vehicle.  He starts trying to drive the car up the ramp of the trailer, and would've torn off the front spoiler if I didn't wave him off.  He finally got it loaded up, and the car arrived safely in Texas 2 days later. Definitely would not be my choice for shipping.

No money back guarantee-it was a bit contentious to say the least.  Still looking-since I was 16 years old in 1979 lol.  Thought I finally had "The One".

Unfortunately, I did not do enough research before purchasing a'69 RS Z/28 project from a knowledgeable dealer.  When I posted pictures of the engine block stamp on this site, the previously mentioned gentlemen contacted me and let me know it was restamped.  Thankfully, I was able to get my money back, though the dealer said the numbers do match, and I never said I wanted a born with drive train.  Hence, my original question here.

Could it be something like a Dynacorn bodied car?

My feelings were certainly hurt, David, and my bank account would've been hurt if not for Kurt, William, and Jerry M. who pointed out that the engine on a "matching numbers" vehicle I was in the process of purchasing, was a restamp.

Thanks for the replies gents.  I always thought matching numbers meant what the car left the assembly line with.  I learned the hard way that not everybody feels the same way.

In the spirit of matching numbers, original/born with drive train, and such, I'd like to start a discussion on 1) Is it proper to call a car "Matching numbers" if the block/trans/rear has been restamped to match?  2) Is it me or does it seem that there are very few original drive train 1st generation Camaros (especially Z28s) as compared to original drive train early Corvettes?  Any thoughts on why that is?

I find it odd that the first car says it has a 10 bolt rear.  I would think an L78 would be 12 bolt only.
