Starting the second week of Dec 1968 (12B) the X code was used. All 396 SS cars from Norwood plant had an X code X22 or X66 starting on that date. Convertible Camaros after that date without the X code were low horse cars ie 307, etc..    However, it is possible to have an exception...  Please read this http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#POPCodes

Google bent rims and you'll find several tire/rim companies claiming they can...
I know of one in Mass.. big shop with professional equipment but I never had any work done.... good luck

All 68 BB's were SS.  To determine the RS option you should have the wiring, firewall and radiator support RS holes, RS tail lights, etc... check the AIM to determine the RS details. You should have a BB cross member if Munice 4 spd, all 68 BB came with 12 bolt posi rear axle, SS hood springs, power brakes, rear pressure brake regulator, dual exhaust brackets, the muncie 4 spd hole and clips, etc...

What do you have for a fan? Carb? throttle linkage?  Do you have factory gauges?  if yes what red line RPM is on the tach? what wheels do you have?  Feel free to ask me questions...

Do your detective homework, i.e. owner history, etc...  from your photos the brake system has been replaced...   what leads you to think its a RSSS 396?

I am so sick of the fraud and so many of you have helped me to see the difficulty in doing something about it... however, I must have had some very hard (PLF's) parachute landings as I still think I can do something about it... with that said...

I would like all of you who are like me and want to do something about it to email me your contact info.   I believe if enough of us get together we can do something.  United we stand...

I currently have a request for help into the CT states Attorney General about eBay and the fraud of cars and car parts.  From reading this sites posts I would guess some of you are tracking the eBay fraudulent sellers...   this is good.

This 1111499 dist has a funny marked date code. I think it may be a real 499 that someone changed the date on... I surely would not buy it.

I think the "theGMParts" dist 1111499 is also a fake since he never displays any clear photos of it.  However he states he bought it and had it restored or something like that making me think he might be a victim...   I just don't know.  Without a set of clear photos I would stay away from it.

as for the feedback you can blame eBay... they have done something that now gives sellers a unfair 100% or close to that...  They have also removed the "contact seller" part.  You have to look under feedback then contact the person.

I have spoke to eBay and wrote to eBay about this fraud and it appears to me that eBay has decided that it is in their best interest to support the Fraudulent sellers as they continue too get revenue out of it... so what started out as a great selling auction is really BUYER BEWARE and I so hope eBay is reading this!

Furthermore I want ever dirt-bag eBay seller to know that you can run and you can try to hide but it won't help you....

This ad on eBay is a re-stamped 499 dist being sold as an original GM. Straight out Fraud and if they disagree they can sure try and sue me. I fight back and win! These kind of crooks have damaged our hobby so now let the good guys know who they are.   >:(

Google wheel repairs and you 'll find a lot of companies. I had contacted a company in Mass but I never got around to that point yet. You should be able to find someone reasonable near you. good luck JOE

So far mine are still looking day one original and clean but I have not had my cars out on the road day in and out so I am not sure if it will still look new after lots of street duty.  What I found is a cleaning method that cleans the road grim and deep stains off, bringing the case back to a clean day one look, preserves the natural finish and IMHO looks great. IF I had to settle for a media blast I would invest in the soda blast and or soft shell over glass.... but first I would try every cleaning method available, degreasers, ect... the Tied cleans deep and thorough but it does require you to scrub it in.    JOE

I discovered a method that works pretty well and keeps the factory finish and patina.  I first used Dawn liquid dish soap and a brush...water pressure and that cleans most of the oils off, then I used my wife's Tied powder detergent with a stiff scrub brush.  It came out looking brand new!  Good luck.  GI JOE
