Yep... That is for a California emissions 67...

Seemed awfully large in diameter...that's what gave me pause and prompted my post...thanks for your input ;)

Is this the correct air cleaner for a '67 275 or 295 HP with CA emissions?

If not, any clue what it is for?

The 8 and the 0 trail up where as the 1111 trail down... is 9C4 even a good date?
OK.  I'm not sure what you are trying to say about the 0, 8 and 1's because I don't see it.  Also, since it should be stamped in one gang I should think that the numbers would all trail the same...so wouldn't your observation indicate a possible restamp?

I don't see a problem with the date as a date...March 4th 1969...during the '69 productiuon run.

The part number looks pretty good...

Doesn't it look like it's been through a blast cabinet? (top edge especially)

Thanks for the response Kevin.

A follow up question would be whether the stud on the threaded throttle linkage goes in from the outside or from the inside.  Anyone?

General Discussion / throttle and kickdown linkage question on L-48

Hello All,

I posted in the restoration area but don't think there is as much traffic as here.  I need to know two things:

1) which of the three holes (at he top of the carb linkage) in the photo below is correct for "sticking" the throttle linkage through?  I can't seem to tell from the AIM

2) is the bolt/tab correct for the kick-down linkage on a TH350?  Is it in the correct location?

Thanks

The 1969 Chassis Overhaul Manual, page 9-23, calls for 30 ft-lbs. for the cover screws.

Thank you John.  I knew I could count on you!

What is the correct torque for the four  bolts that hold the aluminum cover on the PS gear box?  '69 Pontiac shop  manual says 30 ft/lbs, '69 Chevy shop manual doesn't specify.

thanks

Restoration / Re: Underhood black

Joe,

Heater box covers are full gloss black,

JM

Thanks Jerry,

right after I posted this I thought to look it up in your book  :) (the '69 one) and it shows the heater box cover to be 60-70% gloss (p205, New Revised 2nd ed)...could you please clarify which is correct?

So, any suggestions on how to achieve the correct level of gloss with modern paints?  My paint shop can no longer mix acrylic enamels  (like centari) but even if they did I couldn't use a hardener and still achieve something less than gloss.

In order to achieve 60% gloss for those parts needing it does anyone have a recommendation on paint type or mix to achieve this level of gloss black?

A second question...the heater cover box (on the firewall) should it be the same level of gloss as the firewall it self (30% gloss) ?

Restoration / Blast media for aluminum parts

I have  few alternators and distributors I need to clean up prior to rebuilding...any suggestions for a blast media type (or other method) to clean up but not pit?

That same distributor was also used in the 1969 Nova, Chevelle, and full-size Chevrolet; I think it would be highly unlikely that it would have been originally installed on a 1970 engine built many months later - it was a fairly high-volume part.
John, would a service/warranty distributor have an application number on it?
