General Discussion / Re: D 80 in AIM?
« on: May 18, 2009, 09:34:47 PM »
Its in the 69 AIM, front spoiler only.  Its under Z28 for the rear mostly for paint striping.  Fisher installed the rear spoiler, GM the front.

The second number you listed is listed in the Delco service manual as a 67/68 Camaro AM radio.  May be a late 67 early 68 radio.

The quick ratio manual steering was actually done with a different sector gear in the steering box, in addition to the longer pitman arm and shorter steering knuckles.

I think the lens is blue tinted on a firebird radio, and green on a Camaro.

For what its worth the number 1 and No. 2 ZL1's  have an FS designated exhaust system on their build sheets.

Numbers are right, they're Delco numbers not GM service part numbers.

There are only 4 different radios available for the 67 Camaros, and one of those I don't think I've ever seen.

986823 Camaro AM pushbutton radio
986835 Camaro AM manual (no pushbuttons - haven't seen this one)
986824 Camaro AM/FM mono pushbutton radio
7301001 67/68 Camaro Tape Stereo (mounts under dash on tunnel or front of console)

Thats it for 67s.

Mild Modifications / Re: Suffer from Big Cam no Vacum!!
« on: April 27, 2009, 10:45:22 AM »
You might not make any vacuum at idle but you will make vacuum at higher RPMs and on deceleration.  Install a can with a check valve beteen the can and the manifold any you'll be fine.

General Discussion / Re: Carlisle and the NEW COPO

Thats taking a reproduction trim tag to a whole new level.  How does GM and or Fisher (if they still existed) feel about CARS making a car out of a bunch of peice-parts that GM may or may not have made or licensed, then attaching a tag to it that says GM certifies that it meets all of the requirements in effect when it was made (which was 2009).  Hope they have good lawyers.

Its the 8032nd standard interior coupe built.  It was also the 13583 rd Camaro built at the Los Angeles plant.

General Discussion / Re: Proper Designation SS/RS RS/SS?

"Order of importance"

When you are involved in a race, do you list the finish order as 1,2,3 or 3,2,1?

20,302 Z28s, 3675 Z11's  which one should be worth more

If that was the case, then the Z11 would be the king. ;D

The RPOs are just codes that are recycled as needed and have no priority over one another.  The Z11 code used in 69 was previously applied to the 409 motors in the mid 60's impalas (I think) and it was available for redesignation at the time the Pacecars were being built.  There is even a Z11 RPO still active in GMs list or RPOs today (or there was about 2 years ago)

I've got the October of 69 P&A 30A book, but only the first volume which is up to Section 10.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Cowl Tag
« on: April 02, 2009, 12:10:37 AM »
Most people that care about their cars don't touch the cowl tag.  It was on the car before it got its initial primer coat in the factory.  Removing the tag only causes people to question the tags authenticity and originality.
