Digging this thread up again as there was a recent discussion about check valves, and I realised I hadn't updated this with my experiment to impart some 'aged color' to the very white reproduction that Bentley originally posted pics of.
So - this is the comparison. The valve on the right was the result of soaking in a zip-lok bag containing a strong coffee. I started off leaving it for 24 hours, but it barely took on any of the color; this picture is after about a week in the bag. The artificial lighting makes it contrast heavily against the as-purchased repro on the left, and appear maybe a little too dark, but in natural light it looked very much like an original on a friend's car.
Still lacking the patina of a used original, but when installed, far less obvious as a repro to me. In hindsight, I would have removed it a day or two sooner, but being honest I got sidetracked and forgot it  ::)
Interested in opinions!

Kurt that's a great comparison; the 3rd base from the left in your picture looks to me very much like the one in the trunk of the 27,000mi unrestored HO car. Very interesting!

Have a great show Chick - MCACN is on my list of must-see events, hope to get over there within the next couple of years. Would love to meet you and your amazing car, and of course as many fellow CRG-ers as possible.

At the 1:28 mark it is showing the spare tire with the jack base. I have never seen an original '69 Camaro with that base. The one I am familiar with is rectangular with straight sides and rounded corners with no slots at each end. Can anyone verify that base was used and if so, what plant and what time frame?
Can't recall ever seeing that style of jack base on a '69 either, Warren. I started a thread here about jack designs a while ago (http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=13242.0;all) since it was suggested to me that LOS-built cars used a different style to NOR; the limited responses supported that suggestion, but still only a tiny sample size. The base on that style of jack has a slot at one end, and a small semi-circular indentation on 3 of the 4 sides - shown on the picture on page 1 of the above-referenced thread. I've since seen that style base on other cars from the 1970's.

Welcome to CRG! Nice units. Holley undated reissues are $750-950 each, depending on the vendor and shipping. HBC has a dated matched NOS pair for $4,995 - but asking price does not equate to actual value. Cost of a proper basic rebuild would be around $150-175 labour, plus extra for parts, for each carb. Restoration including recoloring would be more, maybe double, but you'd do better offering them for sale as-is, let the buyer decide on survivor vs restored.

For a cheaper alternative to the ZIP-sourced check valve, read this: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=14483

Presumably the factory stamp was intended to be 0828, 0830 or 0831.

OK, thanks Chick! I'm not restoring mine, just going to clean it up, but handy to know for the future.

So is the correct plating gold cad or yellow zinc, or either?

Have you tried www.kelseytire.com?

Lloyd I means to add with the above pictures that to my eye, the crimped base of the pump is gold, rather than silver - wondered if this answers your original question?

Lloyd I managed to find some older pictures of the pump saved on my laptop, can still retrieve it from storage if you want to see pictures of any other specific details.
This one seems to have used the same font style for both '6's in 40669, but interestingly the 'AI' has a double strike.

Thanks Mike!  I do have another question for you - What does the "UOIT" in your signature stand for?
I'm not Mike, but 'UOIT' is Uniform Option Identification Tag - Fisher Body's equivalent to the Chevrolet body or chassis broadcast code sheets; used to indicate body color, trim, relevant options etc.

Lloyd I have an original 40669 with the same January 1969 date code. I can't recall what the finish is, will dig it out and post some pictures within the next day or two.
