Title: Optic fiber vigilite lens colours
Post by: My68SS on May 27, 2006, 04:45:02 PM
What colour are the optic fiber lens's for the fender mounted assemblies? Mine are a bit faded looking, seems to be clear on one side and the middle, green on the other side?
I've noted that Chevelle seems to be red, clear and green with 3 fibers in each lens assembly?

I believe you are correct on the lens colors.

My68SS - I have a "Custom Feature Accessories for 1968 Camaro" booklet that shows the GM VIGILITE.  It shows it as RED, YELLOW and GREEN.  I believe they used the Red and the Green to mimmick a boat's sidelights - Red for the port side (left) and green for the starboard side (right).

I have the same book but for 69. It is a generic picuture of the lens used for all the models. Notice that the picture of the rear monitor is incorrect too. The red lens is not on the Camaros because it is used to monitor the high beams on a 4 headlite system like Chevelles. Look at any original Camaro lens (like mine) and the colors will be clear, clear, green, with only 2 fiber cables-green one to the headlites, center clear (which shows up amber) to the parking lites). Buick lenes are blue, clear, green.
