Title: Alternator brackets for BB short water ? ?
Post by: opelitis1 on October 12, 2010, 12:50:53 PM
Are the alternator brackets the same for a short, 3856284 1968  Big Block water pump versus the brackets for the  later 6263707 long Big Block water pump??
Thanks!
Ted

Ted,
They are completely different. 67-68 alt. mounted on LH side ( see 68 AIM L35 A3 ).  69 mounted on RH side ( see 69 AIM L35 A4 ).

I just pulled the Alternator brackets from a 1977 454 and the bracket that adjusts the alternator is much smaller than the other ?? alternator adjuster bracket that I have from what I now am not sure.. Will post up a pic. of both, later tonight or tomorrow and a few other old style alternator mounts..
Been sooo long since I have even looked at these parts that it is kinda "murky" if'n you know what I mean, and, believe me, I appreciate the help in the identification process..
Have  a few 67-69 First Gen. parts that I  need help in figuring out what the application is,  and I would hope a sense of over-whelming fatique ain't a gonna get to you guys.

  Merci des Boys!!
