Does anyone know how the parking brake pedal switch was setup? ???
What should contact the switch?
Should the switch be depressed when the brake is engaged or dis-engaged?
I recently removed the parking brake to restore the kick panel. When it was reinstalled, I cleaned the contacts for the switch and since then the light is on all the time. It appears that something should be contacting the switch but nothing comes close to it. I have looked in the AIM on page 5-C1 (page 74) and it is not depicted there.
I have been looking at a number of 67 through 69 Camaros to compare and they are all run the same which appear incorrect. The pic shows how the switch is setup in my 68 when the brake is not engaged.
Any help is appreciated.

Your're missing the tab that contacts the switch.

Your're missing the tab that contacts the switch.
Is this a separate part or a return on the pedal arm sheetmetal?
Does anyone have a photo they can share of this?
Thanks again.

Rick's part # SW-36. Faster than crawling under my dash.

Great. Thanks, I was not sure what I was looking for. This part must be commonly misplaced as I have looked at many Camaros and none were complete that I saw.
Thanks

Was the switch tab spot welded, rivoted or simply clipped on?
Thanks Again,
John

Hi,
It clips on, not the best picture...

The cable holds it in place and there is a clip that keeps the cable in. When the brake is disengaged the tab depresses the switch breaking contact to ground interrupting the circuit and turning off the light.

Would someone please post a picture of this clip showing how it looks installed? I can't really tell from the AIM. Thanks.
