Title: Original 69 big block crank pulley bolts
Post by: nuch_ss396 on October 19, 2007, 10:19:58 PM
Hi all!

I'm in the final phases of assembly on my '69 396 and I misplaced a number of the original bolts & fasteners.  In particular this time, I am looking for the
three ( 3 ) original bolts that mounted the lower pulley to the vibration dampner.  Can anyone describe these bolts to me, or better yet post an image?

Were they standard 3/8-16UNC hex head bolts with a split style lock washer?  Or, were they hex head bolts with an integral washer?  What is the length
of the correct bolt?

Lastly, anyone got a set of three originals that are looking for a new home?

They're 3/8"-24 (fine thread) bolts with a separate split lockwasher.

AMK fasteners carry them... they have a nice hardware selection.

Hi John,

Are you sure about that thread count?  Every set I've seen ( ebay ) seem to be coarse threads.

Oops - I was thinking small-block (they're all 3/8"-24); big-block balancer pulley bolts are 3/8"-16. :)
