Title: 69 Camaro Early Car Fisher body code
Post by: eclassic-cars on August 12, 2007, 05:03:06 PM
I have a 69 non x code car that has a chalk mark of an 'x -' under the rear seat back. Can anyone help me as to the meaning of this code.

Thanks
Dave

If you look hard enough it may also have a number next to it. Stands for X33, X77, X44, X11 etc. They were the exterior trim codes.

I think he means it has an X and then a dash, no number. Can you take a pic of it?

Dave and I took the back seat out and looked at the code.  No extra numbers and the dash is about 1.5 inches long and horizontal, so it is not part of a number.  On convertibles there is bunch of adhesive for the well liner that is put on over top of the markings, so it is very tough to see.  Dave, try a shoplight in the interior and take the pic without the flash, that might work.

Here is a pic of my early x11 convert to show the problem.  There is no dash between the X and the 1 that I can see.
