Title: Rally Sport hideaway hinge color
Post by: 69bigblock4speed on October 20, 2023, 11:45:38 AM
I have a 69 SS / RS with a Endura bumper. What color were the hinges painted, that hold the RS headlight covers out of Norwood. Black, Grey, and or Natural metal in color? I am talking about the bracket that the headlight door or cover is mounted too. When it open it pivots 90 degrees.

I contacted
Jerry McNeish and he told me they are to be semi gloss black in color. That is how they left Norwood.

Yes, that is correct.  I know we discussed the finer details on how to paint RS door components with Lloyd for his Z, but I cannot find that now of course. :(

They were dip painted similar to many other parts found on car. JohnZ always stated it was a semi-gloss primer.

Photos of 1969 Camaro RS door hinges, original and restored. They were (dip) painted semi-gloss black.
