Does anyone have an original car with either head usage?
041 heads on a Z28.
186 heads on an L48 - SS 350.

68 0702EE 07E with 041’s…..June 68 cast dates. Very very early..

I know that Jerry has seen at least one 041 head on a 69 Z that he thought was original.
I have 186 heads that I pulled off of a L48 from a Caprice. Never seen them in a Camaro though....

I think the "186" heads were used by Flint and the "041" heads were used by Tonawanda.
-
I believe that's the case, but don't have proof. That Caprice L48 was Flint.
-
Well I sincerely doubt that was the only L48 assembled at Flint then.

Here's a 350/300 engine code HN I saw on FB that says original and has 186 heads. But who knows what could have been swapped around if it was rebuilt. The head date does match the block really well though and it's a Flint engine.

Thanks for posting that!

Thanks! That is one more datapoint that confirms what was put into the head report:
> The 3947041 was a Tonawanda casting that was used in the L48 engines built at Tonawanda. The 3927186 head was used for the Flint-built L48 and Z28 applications.

Block casting for the engine pics above the JL8Jeff posted is 3956618
