A white 1968 Camaro was used as the pace car at the 1/2 mile dirt track known as the Fairmont Speedway in Fairmont, Minnesota during their 1968 season of racing modified and sportsmen race cars. The car was white with a black vinyl top and black nose stripe. It also had rally wheels and thin white line tires. The Camaro was courtesy of the Cadillac/Chevrolet dealer called Motor Inn Company in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Here you can see the Camaro pace car to the left of the smashed race car.

This photo embedded amongst the driver headshots seems to show that the Camaro pace car was involved in some type of accident. It looks like the Camaro sustained damage to the drivers side door and rear quarter panel.

This picture shows a different Camaro at the track during a race meeting. Perhaps this was a different Camaro pace car that was used after the first one was involved in a wreck (see prior photo).

An advertisement for the dealer that supplied the Camaro pace car to the race track was featured on the front cover of the souvenir program for the 1968 season. In it you can see what looks to be a white Z28. This is not the same car that appears in any of the prior photos.

An advertisement that appeared in the August 15, 1968 edition of the Estherville Daily News from Estherville, Iowa states "1968 Camaro Pace Car given away free Sunday night." I'm not sure which Camaro was given away, but I doubt it was the one involved in the accident.
