Title: Hurst levers - OE vs. aftermarket
Post by: z28z11 on February 19, 2020, 08:09:27 PM
Looked high and low to try to figure out the application - levers on the right are obviously OE to '69's, what are the ones on the left side for ? They are roughly the same size, same hole stamping. marked differently. Maybe later issue ? Pontiac ?

Hurst experts please weigh in -

Regards,
Steve

I really need to go out in shop and double check, Steve. But I think the ones on left are Muncie, right are Saginaw

Bentley,

Thanks for the clue - I believe the ones on the left are Saginaw, right are Muncie. I found a '69 console shifter pic for a Saginaw, and the "FS" marked levers are plainly visible. I believe there's a pic in MacNeish's '69 book that shows the "FO-FT" levers as for a Muncie -

I never really realized there would be a difference between the two transmission linkages, but considering the tailshaft differences, I guess so -

Regards,
Steve

It had to do with the internal shift mechanisms inside trans.
