I am going to have a 1975 350 4 bolt main truck short block rebuilt to install in my 1968 Camaro. It has the 1182 forged steel crankshaft, turned .020/.020. I don’t have the original damper. But, I have an 8” x 1 5/16” wide, damper (3896966) and a 6 3/4” x 1 3/16” wide, damper, pictured below. Would the 8” one be the correct damper? It looks like it is in very good condition, because the rubber isn’t cracked.

Damper needs to match the timing cover pointer. What do you have for a timing cover?

i don't have the Timing Chain Cover. I am going to buy one with the correct Timing Tab.

If you're going for original appearance, the 67-68 350s used the 8-inch 3896966 balancer. I've seen two styles of them - one with a cast "cut out" in the outer ring and the others without it. Not sure if one was earlier for 67 or they were used on other or later GM engines.
