Title: 69 cowl tag
Post by: JCHansen1 on November 05, 2019, 10:27:09 PM
Anyone care to opine this tag? Looks ok to me but never hurts to have some more eyes on it... Thanks!

..  it appears to be bent/warped to me....   no idea whether the tag is original or not, but the bend/warp is 'aftermarket'..  :)

I think it is real, possibly damaged by a pressure washer.

Car is incorrectly restored; the firewall and tag were not body color.

Soda blasting can distort very thin metal and likely cowl tags as well. My two cents.

Agree.  Tag is legit

but would you want a car with a cowl tag like that one?

Wouldn't bother me as long as the car had everything I was looking for and wanted.  But I'm not everyone.  But to answer your question more directly..  I wouldn't be interested but in a couple 69's at this point and both are local and currently not for sale.    ;)

The last time I had seen a warped cowl tag when due to an engine fire.
A sign if that happened would be if the rubber coating was still on the welded wire support loop next to it, though that can easily be fixed with several dips of Plastic-Dip.

Kind of odd that it is bent in in the middle and the rivet area?
