Hopefully someone can answer this;
On a '68 396 Smog system, I have been informed that there are 2 different designs for the main (mounted on intake manifold) mounting bracket, one which has the spot-welded diverter valve mounting bracket and one without?
Is this true? If so, which version was "early" or "late" - and when was the "early" version changed?
Thank you.

The spot welded bracket is correct for all 68 Camaro big blocks. I believe the one without the diverter valve bracket was used on Chevelle and full size cars with automatics.
