Title: Radiator shroud clip
Post by: BillOhio on May 23, 2018, 01:12:38 AM
does anyone have any good tips for getting the clip beside the battery tray in? This side towards the fender wants to slide in nice but then you cannot hook it over the radiator. I've tried hooking it over the radiator but then I can't get it to slide in the slot. About to drive me crazy

I ended up getting a little rough with it. I could not get the end pushed up so it would latch. Finally I got a small piece of wood and was able to tap it up in there with the hammer and it caught and stayed.

Glad you got it to go on Bill.  I'm having a radiator redone and I will have to do the same thing.

Bill, X2 on getting that rascal in place. I remember it had to be worked but was not too difficult but sure it depends on a lot of scenarios.

Standing on your head doesnt give you much leverage!

So when you got it to work did you get it hooked on the core side first and then tap it into place on the other end or was it vice versa?

I had it hooked and then had to tap the outside clip in.  Not much room and it doesnt want to go in there. I had a small block of wood and a hammer that I could get a decent hit on it.

I have to ask - GM or reproduction ?

Bill I am deducting points from your car at the next show for the reproduction clip,

Unless you post a pic of you standing on your head with the stick and mallet.

BTW does your Doctor recommend this type of head stand right after surgery .... ;D

Maybe I replaced A reproduction with an original lol. It is a challenge to get down in there. It's been exactly 5 months from the surgery and the hip seems to be working good but I seem to have a really irritated tendon. I had a steroid shot last week and he said don't climb any stairs but he did not say anything about hanging over the front end of that car. I told him cruising season is getting here and I need to be able to have one foot on the accelerator and the other one on the clutch. He thought I had mixed up priorities

"He thought I had mixed up priorities"
Obviously not a car guy.  Probably drives a Prius.

He loves to hunt. He came out to the farm one day and if I remember right it was a Buick Rendezvous or some kind of SUV. It look like somebody taken golf clubs to it it was all beat up. I didn't ask him what happened but there had to be a good story there. He told me this winter that he bought a pickup truck so he's ready to go anytime now and will just drive out from work LOL. I've gotten to be pretty good friends with him and the other day I asked him since I've been in there so much do I get invited to the Christmas party. They all just laughed at me
