Title: My 69 as it left the factory
Post by: arrowax534 on July 12, 2015, 07:32:24 AM
Anyone know how to find out what specs my car left the factory with. I just got a 69 and would like to know  what it originally started life as?

A good place to start is VIN and body tag info. Depending on where and when it was built the body tag may be of no value. The car itself may offer clues but bear in mind by now it has probably been messed with. 46 years is a long time.

Hey Welcome to the CRG!
As William stated, Vin and body number is the best place to start. There are many other clues that when combined may lead to other deductions. If your car was shipped to Canada it may be possible to find out how it left the factory.
If you want some open help from members, Post some pics of your body tag, and some pics of the car. Any docs will also help

William is also correct in saying anything can happen in 46 years, and some guys purposely change things to make it something it is not.

Thanks for that but because the motor is non original to car VIN doesn't give me that info.

The firewall tag may provide some insight, if it has a metal plate on the drivers side for a dual exhaust hanger that would be a clue as well.
