Title: 69 Z28 Fuel line
Post by: L78 steve on May 29, 2015, 05:51:02 PM
Is the metal fuel line continuous from tank rubber hose to pump? Or is there a break with a rubber hose behind the RH front wheel- body to frame rail transition then back to metal to the pump?

My Z has a rubber line between metal line from the tank, and the fuel pump. With the metal line bolted to the sub frame, seems to me there has to be some flexibility between it and the engine to allow for engine movement.

This is like mine and others I've seen but Inline Tube shows it as one piece. I wonder if that is how they make it with the intention of it being cut by the installer.
Would make sense for a 2 piece due to the body to frame movement.

That's the way they were supposed to be...   that rubber line provides the flexibility from frame to engine.  Check out the AIM UPC 6 pg C6.
PS.  Inline tube also sells the rubber hose and clamps to attach both ends of the fixed hardline (from frame rail to pump and from frame rail to gas tank)...   http://inlinetube.com/rubber%20fuel%20hose/FHS-301.htm

The rubber line in the front is to provide for slight engine movement relative to the subframe.

The front and rear rubber fuel hose are shown best in the 1969 Camaro AIM UPC 8 page B1 (front and rear hoses).

Fuel line diagrams are also in  UPC 8 page B2 (fuel line - front half) - and UPC 8 page B3 (fuel line - rear half).

This shows a rubber line at the meter assembly and fuel pump only. So fuel line is one piece.

In a word...Yes. 1 piece line from after sender line, at RH. rear frame rail, joined by rubber line, to fuel pump rubber line.
This shows a rubber line at the meter assembly and fuel pump only. So fuel line is one piece.

I will add, (not sure if it is recommended), but where the rubber line attaches to go to the pump, is where I install my Fram clear fuel filter. It seemed like a good idea since it is tucked out of the way, and hasn't prevented the car from running any differently.

I have the clear filter at the line cut behind the RH front wheel.
