A friend is looking at a nice '67 Camaro supposedly an L30 with a PG (it has the 327/275 hp engine) and a Powerglide. We will go look at it in a couple of days, but I wanted to learn as much as I could about this model first. This car has been restored some number of years ago, and appears very nice in the photos. It only has 70K miles on it... white with red interior. Only mod is the addition of the SS louvers to the original hood. The current owner is asking 35K for it; is that high? low? reasonable ? or ? Is there any codes or special parts I need to look for when I go see it with my friend?

Gary,
10 bolt on a PG, but look at note 7 in the 67 model chart.
How do SS louvers fit on an original hood?
I'd say price is high.
I'd like to think my 68 L30 with PG is worth over $30k but not likely...

For comparison:

This car was at Carlisle in the Auction last Thursday. The high bid reach somewhere in the low 30s and it was for sale afterwards for $36,000. This car was CLEAN and well presented. It essentially needed nothing. It was a numbers matching SS350 car with factory AC, power glide transmission and deluxe red interior with headrests.

Thanks for the comments Phillip and Bryan...
I think my friend would prefer to pay 30 for this car as well... It's nice (white with red opt interior), with lots of options (PS, PB, AC, console w/gauges, original CA smog, Rallye wheels with redline tires (+ additionial Coys 18/20 wheels), etc. I also wondered how the ss grills could be mounted to a std hood, but that's what the owner says was done?

I saw this one on CL last week. It appears to me it's a standard hood with the grilles slapped on, in about the same location as an SS hood. They may have also used the additional Nova piece that the grilles set in.

Well, if they bolted on SS louvers to a standard hood, make sure you check if they added the SS hood springs, Gary. (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-angry032.gif)
Remember this is a standard sport coupe, not an SS. There are plenty of nice First Gen standard sport coupes on Hemmings in the 25k to 28k range.
There is even a 27k one in Gary's favorite color: hugger orange! (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-signs007.gif)

*L*.. this one isn't for me.. it's white with red interior, and the nicest original '67 I've seen in awhile... I think my friend will buy it if he can get them down a little.
PS> I LOVE all original colors.. :)

It needs the body sill black-out paint below the Z22 rocker moldings. ;)

This is the one I referred to, and it was purchased by my friend today.. a very nice looking car, but I'm not a '67 expert and I'd be interested in anything you guys see and want to comment on...

Okay, I'll admit that somebody did do a nice job --from a distance-- of putting the louvers on a standard hood. And yes, the car looks nice.
But what did your friend pay? Does one really have to pay $30k for a 30 footer Camaro SS clone.
Please tell your friend I'm not trying to be overly critical of the car. For not that much more money on de-cloning, he can have a great looking L30/M35 Camaro Sport Coupe.
My concern is the price....
How does it run?
And yes, I know you like all colors... I apologize for the hugger joke.... (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-happy096.gif)
