Title: Sealer between blower motor and housing ???
Post by: Tinkerr on September 25, 2006, 01:15:28 AM
Does anybody know if GM used a sealer between heater blower motor and the firewall heater box? There's no indication that I've seen, but I thought I'd get a second opinion.

My 69 RS didn't have any sealer either.

Attached photo is the only one of the fan side of the motor/blower assembly prior to cleaning things up. Second picture is of the outer heater box cover where the motor/blower assembly bolts up.  If you look closely, no evidence of sealer on either the blower flange or the outer heater box cover.

That being said, when it went back together, it did get some sealant.

I think I'll put little sealer on mine as well. I can't imagine it hurting anything and it just seems like something should be there. Thanks for the reply Rich.

The only sealer that the 68 Chassis Service Manual mentions is in the blower assembly replacement and repair.  If you haven't already looked, take a look at figure 4 on 1A-3.
